You remember that church I mentioned a few days ago. Basically, I spent the ENTIRE class time Tuesday through Thursday working on it (a total of 24 hours.) Tuesday was spent just getting the general structure of the building down. Wednesday and Thursday were dedicated entirely to creating the illusion of depth, via shading. Thursday afternoon my professor and I declared it to be “done for now,” as in, let’s leave it alone for a while, focus on some 3D projects, and come back to it in a few weeks.
This is what I’ve done thus far, drawn on 18”x24” Strathmore paper, with a variety of graphite pencils.

The shading is a little hard to see on here, one, because of the camera, and two, because I’ve always been kind of tentative with shading things, but ah well. There are a couple of glaring mistakes I’ve made on this as well, which I am not going to point out because I don’t want anyone else to see them :P Then again, you probably can anyway…
Overall, though, this has been a very rewarding project. There were a few firsts made on this drawing, such as shading in a large plane (the sky,) and paying attention to shadows, their many gradients, and how they affect the appearance of the drawing as a whole. Plus, I never draw buildings, so it was a lot of fun trying something new :)
I can’t believe I’m already 2/5ths of the way through the semester… O___o
